Isaiah 41:9-10

I took you from the ends of the earth,
    from its farthest corners I called you.
I said, ‘You are my servant’;
    I have chosen you and have not rejected you.
10 So do not fear, for I am with you;
    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Growing up, insecurity had always been a part of me, molded me into a person I never wanted to be–a person filled with doubt and fear, a person suffering from inferiority complex. Almost all my life, I used to believe that I was never good, pretty or smart enough to be someone worth spending time with. I only had a few friends and the rest, well, I felt they were a threat. I rarely smiled and talked to other people because I was afraid of getting hurt. Apart from the insecurities, I also had my fair share of shortcomings. I guess, it’s safe to say that I was an insecure rebel. In the eyes of many people, I would never pass their judgment with flying colors.

But not with God.

We might think that we have to fix our lives first before we could come before God. The bad news is, we could never do it because we don’t have the ability. We can try and adopt a different perspective, but it’s different when we rely on God to fix our broken, imperfect lives and that is the good news. Jesus offered His life so we could be restored. His life for us to live.

I used to ask God, why me? When there are still so many things about me that needs to be transformed, but His Word reminded me that He chose me, and the same goes for the rest–we are chosen. It doesn’t matter what kind of personality or attitude I used to sport because He has the ability to change all that. He knows I’m beautiful and smart because He created me. He doesn’t mind if I’m not good at a lot of things because He can enable me to do the things He wants me to do. He doesn’t care if I think so little of myself because He can make me bigger. Only He can back me up and take me to high places and will never let me fall as long as I cling to Him.

All I need to do is trust Him, every minute of my life.

God wants us to come to Him. If you feel you’ve been rejected in the past and you seem unable to get out of the pain and to shake off the fear, focus your eyes on God. He will neither leave you nor reject you. In Him, you are loved, you are accepted.
